Post by cholzee Mon Aug 09, 2010 11:04 pm

so hindi pa pala ako nakakapagkwento. it's really nice to read and discover what's happening to my fellow tigers. imagine, pare-parehas lang tayong mga students... Wink

let me tell you a story about myself hahahaha!

i finished Architecture in the year 2008. we are required to accomplish 2 years of work experience before taking the d@mn boards.

one month after the graduation, i pushed my luck and summoned all the guts in me saying, "i want to work right away. i need to work right away." being so excited to be in the workforce, i had my chance to get hired immediately in a small design firm. tough luck eh? or i dunno, maybe it's just that i'm a thomasian and i got what it takes to get hired in no time, and mind you --- skills are concerned. (raaaaaar! proud lang, tiger eh!)

so akala ko masaya magwork agad. na-realize ko na hindi pala madali. sana nagrelax muna ako at nag-enjoy pa. anyway, to cut it short, i have been thinking about my future so much so i dived into the labor zone right after schooling. yun pala, wala rin, kasi masyado akong magastos hehehe!

i was appointed as a junior designer and project coordinator + site supervisor. i was satisfied with the experience. though maliit lang ang compensation at residential office lang siya, masaya na rin ako.

i earned little. i learned a lot.

1 year ako sa unang work ko na yun. pero naisip ko i need to grow in the other areas of my field.

so i transferred to a higher type of office. this time it's a business-commercial one concentrating on providing a wide array of workstations. from office dividers, tabletops, chairs and office accessories. mas okay ang compensation, mas okay ang environment kasi formal setting. this time, i worked as a space planner and marketing support officer. related pa rin siya sa architecture pero more on marketing and sales.

6 months lang ako dito sa office na to kasi habang tumatagal, they were trying to put me in the sales and marketing division in which, i declined several times for i really want to pursue architecture. umalis din ako after 6 months... not just because of that... pero na-bull**** na rin kasi ako sa mga boss. master-slave relationship eh.

ngayon nasa Medicotek, Inc. na ako. it's situated just a few steps from MRT boni station. that tall gray building, the paragon plaza. ka-building namin ang Magic 89.9 and Mellow Touch.

anyway, it's a design firm specializing in medical facilities and equipment. simply put, exclusively hospitals ang projects namin. we design, we construct, we provide everything in a hospital. 6 months na din ako dito at hindi ko pa naiisip na umalis kasi sobrang saya ngayon dito sa work ko kahit puro OT. dito naman, my position is a lot like my first work. i'm a junior designer and project coordinator + project development officer.

ultimate rule: you must be happy in what you do.

pero hindi naman laging ganun, may downsides din naman siyempre. but those are just things that i can easily kick aside. what's important is that i learn and practice a lot of things with regards to my field and at the same time, i am happy with the people i am with.

"In order that people may be happy in their work, these three things are needed: They must be fit for it. They must not do too much of it. And they must have a sense of success in it." --John Ruskin

It's really nice to hear from my fellow thomasians na naunang magwork sakin. Smile
Ako 3 mos. pa lang at medyo nag aadjust pa. Masaya mag work, toxic din madalas. Like dindin, okay at masaya ako pero parang may kulang. So go with the flow muna and we'll just see... Makakapagkwento na din ako tulad ng sa inyo in a few years' time Like a Star @ heaven

@ice,

yep tama yan... ride the wave lang muna but make sure na hindi ka nalilihis sa field mo.. or if ever man, wag mong patagalin. nakaka-engganyo kasi talaga ang easy money lalo na pag decent ang amount na kinikita mo.

ako naman i think i've found the right workplace for me. pero mahirap magsalita nang tapos. what really matters as of now is nag-eenjoy ako and i learn a lot of things.

basta goodluck sa ating lahat guys. Smile

Post by pixie Wed Aug 18, 2010 11:34 pm

syempre may part 2 talaga! HAHAHHA!
-----------------
pero pinangarap ko ba 'tong trabahong to. NEVER.

Ano nangyari? Sa broadcast ako napunta. Minsan gumagawa ako ng investigative reports (which is super hard news).

Eto ba ang pangarap ko? Hindi.

Masaya ba ako? Sobra.

Who knows diba, sobrang mainlove pala kayo run.

Wow- Ms. pixie your post is really something. Now I'm really learning. Well, good for me kasi maaga pa, pero paano na lang kaya someday?
And narealize ko dun sa sinabi mo, na mararamdaman mo na gusto mo 'yung work mo at masaya ka sa ginagawa mo kung hindi mo na fi-feel 'yung urge na umalis or ma-tempt sa anumang mas nakakabulag na offer. SO TRUE Neutral I must envy you- for now. I hope I'll find what's good for me and what would make me really happy.

and as for cholzee:

ride the wave lang muna but make sure na hindi ka nalilihis sa field mo.. or if ever man, wag mong patagalin. nakaka-engganyo kasi talaga ang easy money lalo na pag decent ang amount na kinikita mo.

Nakaka engganyo talaga ang offer! Hindi ko akalain dati na ganoon pero ganun pala talaga. lol Minsan kasi dadating sa point na maiisip mo: "Do I really deserve what I get?" Or "I won't care that much for the compensation, basta masaya ako OK na." You have to choose, and making that choice is difficult- for me at least.

yeah correct. and it's difficult for everyone. maski sa akin. may mga offers na double pa ng kinikita ko currently sa work ko. pero dein. i've learned and worked so hard para matapos ang kurso ko sa kolehiyo. and not to mention yung gastos. mataas kasi talaga ang tuition fee sa course ko. isa yan talaga sa mga dilemma ng isang tao. pero i'm sure naman that there's success if you love what you do.

7 days after kong grumaduate napasok ako sa malaking consulting form as an associate software engineer.

Masaya. Mahirap. You learn something everyday and the best part is you can have a looot of mistakes and grow from it. (wag mo lang idedeploy).
